Lauris overlooks the Durance Valley, and the pale stone façade of the château towering above the large terraces catches the eye from afar. The village has a very rich and varied natural and cultural heritage.
The garden boasts a range of plants that contain colouring matter used in dyeing and in pigments. An informative path throughout the garden guides visitors through the 50 beds filled with useful plants, rare plants, Provençal plants and other plant themes. Listed as an outstanding site. The château terraces date from the 18th century and are divided into Jardin Blanc (free access) and the Dye-Plant Conservatory Garden Couleur Garance.
Access for handicaped people. Animals allowed, entertainement, workshops.
From 5th May to 31st Oct. from 10am-12pm & 2pm-7pm except on Mondays. Close 1h before. The shop is also open from the 1st November to the 4th May from Monday to Friday from 9am-12pm & 1pm-5pm.
