1, 2, 3, let's go for a mid-season walk!

Our "Nature" guides, passionate about the fauna, flora and fresh air of Provence, have chosen to take you on a discovery of some of the region's must-sees. Each month, at mid-season, an outing is proposed to you to hike on the "nuggets" of the Luberon. This spring, two walks took place: one along the mills of the Véroncle (Gordes) and the other along the Mur de la Peste (Cabrières d'Avignon). The adventurers who followed our guides were delighted... How can you not fall in love with this wonderful region?

We have tested for you : the walk around the mills of Véroncle on May 19th

From Gordes, the superb gorges of the Véroncle valley reveal their geological secrets and forgotten treasures... The remains of mills bear witness to intense human activity in the past! This difficult and sporty hike alternated between a path at the bottom of the valley and a path on the Monts de Vaucluse plateau with a magnificent view of the Luberon massif just opposite.
Thanks to our guide, the history of these dry-stone mills was brought to life and we were able to understand how they worked at the time. All this was accompanied by explanations of the botanical and faunal wealth of the area: ferns, boxwoods, saskatoon trees, birdsong, butterflies... A grandiose place out of time.

Return on the walk around the Plague Wall on 22 May

After the gorge version, we moved on to the "Observation" version.
Starting from Cabrières-d'Avignon and after following a steep and stony path, we came across a dry stone wall. This rampart was built to fight against the spread of the plague which arrived in Marseille in 1720 and spread rapidly in Provence. The guide explained the principle of the dry stone wall and the functions of the various huts we encountered along the way. At the top, we were treated to a reading of the wonderful landscape at our feet and a view of certain perched villages of the Luberon. A very pleasant walk of medium difficulty under the blue sky of our beautiful region.
